ENROLLMENT PROCEDURE FOR THE GENERAL PROGRAM (Kindergarten)
At Camellia Basic Elementary School, Kindergarten is a general program. Students entering Kindergarten WILL NOT be assessed. To register your child for Camellia Basic’s Kindergarten General Program, stop by the school office any time, Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 3:00pm.
ENROLLMENT PROCEDURE FOR THE BASIC PROGRAM (Grades 1-6)
Students in the Basic Program are enrolled in conjunction with the District’s Open Enrollment Process in February.
Academic achievement at or above grade level, teacher assessment, good behavior, and satisfactory attendance are all required for admission. A recent report card and current standardized test data will need to be submitted to the school site for review on a point rubric processed by the principal.
During the review process at Camellia, an additional conference with the applicant/family may be held, and in some cases more specific screening may be required based on inconclusive or incomplete school records. All applicants are assessed by Camellia Basic teachers.
A list of all applicants who met the “BASIC” criteria will be forwarded on to the SCUSD Open Enrollment Office for processing through the lottery. Results of the lottery will be sent to the applicants by the Open Enrollment Office in late March or early April.
If all spaces are not filled at the end of Open Enrollment, the review process will continue at the school site with qualified applicants’ names to be forwarded to the district Enrollment Center to be placed on the waiting list.
Once accepted, registration MUST be completed at Camellia Basic Elementary School Office.
