Principal's Corner

Greetings Camellia Basic Families:

Overview

On behalf of the Camellia Staff, I’d like to extend a warm WELCOME to our new families and a WELCOME BACK to those of you who are returning. I hope that your summer was filled with fun and relaxation and that you make a lot of wonderful memories with family and friends.

It is an honor to introduce myself as the new principal of Camellia Basic Elementary School and to join this extraordinary school community.  I hope this note finds you enjoying the days of summer and that you and our children are looking forward to beginning a wonderful school year together in September.  Over the past 18 years, I have worked as an elementary school teacher and Teach on Special Assignment in both Sacramento and Natomas Unified School Districts, but I consider my most important job to be that of a child advocate.  I will be spending a lot of time with our children, getting to know their personalities, learning styles and interests.  I will celebrate their successes, small and large.  I will encourage them every day and let them know they are valued and have a special place in our school community.

My belief, my goal, my mission is to give our students the best education they can receive here at Camellia Basic.  We are continuously learning and growing as a staff which allows us to help our students learn and grow.  We believe all students can learn, they can achieve, they can succeed and with everyone’s help that’s exactly what will happen.  With that in mind, you can expect that I will work diligently with teachers to make sure our students are exposed to curriculum and instruction that is both engaging and challenging.

I look forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure our students can achieve their highest potential. Our teachers understand that part of our students’ success relies heavily on the support offered both at school and at home and a strong partnership with you will make a difference in your child’s education. I am certain that our common responsibility for our students’ success will provide fruitful outcomes as the year progresses no matter the challenges.  Please know that my door is always open to you. I heartily welcome your conversation and positive input throughout this year. Let us always keep our students the primary focus of our work.  I look forward to celebrating our collective successes during the 2022 – 2023 school year.

In closing, getting a full night’s sleep each night, eating a nutritious breakfast daily, arriving at school on time every day and having needed supplies are critical factors in how your child is able to learn for the entire school day.  Please do your best to begin the summer-to-school transition early so we have rested and prepared students on the most important first days of school and throughout the year. I look forward to working with you all this year and am eager to see our students as we celebrate the beginning of a new school year!

In partnership with you,

Autumn Moua
