E-mail blast

Good Evening, Camellia Families,

I hope you all are ready for the best first week of school! Your teachers and I have been preparing for a safe return to in-person learning, and cannot be more excited to welcome all of you back, and welcome our Kindergarten and new students to our Camellia campus.

This week has a lot of information, and some important dates to jot down.

First, we will post class lists on our new school website at camellia.scusd.edu on Monday by 2:00pm. Please bookmark this site as important information will be updated and can be translated to your primary language. On Tuesday, our kindergarten and 1st grade teachers will hold orientations on Zoom. The Zoom links were provided in my letter to all families. Please check your mail box for this important mailing and review both sides of each document. Your child’s teacher may also be in contact to remind you of the orientation and provide you with the Zoom link. Please mark you calendar and plan to attend this very important informational Zoom meeting. Lastly, and very important, our procedure for dropping off and picking up has been changed. All students will be required to be dropped off on Cougar Drive in front of the school. Please do not drive in the parking lot to use the loop for drop off or pick up. This is for staff parking only, and there isn’t enough room to use the loop for drop off or pick up. It is also very important for the safety of all to always follow traffic laws including not making u-turns in front of the school and to always use the crosswalk. Students will walk in a single line on the sidewalk to the lobby for health and temperature checks. Students will then be directed to the cafeteria to pick up breakfast or go straight to their class table in the breezeway. For health safety reasons, students will eat breakfast and lunch at their classroom tables in the breezeway this year. All students and staff are required to wear face coverings inside and outside. If you child does not have a face mask, we will provide one for them. At dismissal, you may pick up your child on Cougar Drive, commonly known as the front gate, or on Casa Del Sol Way, also known as the back gate. To clarify, students will be dropped off on Cougar Drive and can be picked up on Cougar Drive or Casa Del Sol Way.

We look forward to a successful school year, getting to know our families, building long lasting relationships, and working beside you to provide your child with the best educational experience!

Thank you,

Ms. McKelvey
