This school is a school of choice location for Grades 1-6 and does not have neighborhood boundaries. Enrollment is through the Open Enrollment process or through a district permit.
2026-2027 Enrollment
Transitional Kindergarten & Kindergarten
Enrollment for Transitional Kindergarten (TK) and Kindergarten begins January 13, 2026.
Age Requirements (per California Education Code):
- Transitional Kindergarten: Children who turn 4 on or before September 1, 2026
- Kindergarten: Children who turn 5 on or before September 1, 2026

Open Enrollment (Grades K–8)
Sacramento City Unified offers in-district families the option to apply for a school or program for the following school year when space is available.
The 2026-2027 Open Enrollment application window will be open Monday, February 2, 2026 - Friday, February 27, 2026.

Transfers & Permits
Students who wish to attend a school outside their neighborhood attendance area or who live outside district boundaries may apply for transfers or permits. Please visit the Transfers & Permits page for specific options and application windows.
CAMELLIA ENROLLMENT PROCESS
Prospective Families:
Camellia Elementary is an Open Enrollment school, meaning there are no neighborhood boundaries – students from all areas are welcome. As a criteria-based school, we maintain high standards to support academic growth and achievement. Camellia is proud to be part of the Sacramento City Unified School District, serving families with a commitment to quality education.
The application window for the 2025-2026 Open Enrollment will be February 3, 2025, at 8:00am – February 21, 2025, at 5:00pm. More information will be provided in January 2025.
2025 – 2026 Kindergarten Open Enrollment:
If you have a child turning 5 years old on or before September 1, 2025, you may enroll them in our Kindergarten Program. Camellia’s Kinder Program prepares our students with the necessary skills in reading, math, and social skills needed for success in elementary school.

2025 -2026 1st – 6th Grades Open Enrollment:
First Grade is the start of our Basic Academic Program, which emphasizes on the development of academic skills and good study habits. Students must meet admission criteria to be accepted to the lottery for the Basic Program.
