Summer Matters 2021

Sac City Unified has opened its application for this summer’s Summer Matters@SCUSD program. The summer learning program will be in-person, five days a week from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  Parents can select the program site which works best for them. Applications must be submitted by Friday, May 28, 2021. 

Parents will be notified of enrollment between June 7-18. Please note that the following groups will receive priority enrollment: foster youth, students experiencing homelessness, students with special needs, English Language learners, and other targeted groups identified by SB 86.

The program will focus on Social and Emotional Learning including:

Mental Health

Restorative practices


Community connection

Small group academic support

Elementary Program

Summer Matters@SCUSD-Elementary Program is a stimulating 5-week summer learning program that will give your incoming 1st through 6th grade child the opportunity to participate in a meaningful and engaging summer learning experience to mitigate learning loss and accelerate classroom learning and equip them with the skills to transition and succeed in the 2021-2022 school year.  Summer Matters@SCUSD-Elementary will provide a combination of high-dose tutoring and enrichment activities such as music, dance, painting and theatre arts.​

Middle School Program

Summer Matters@SCUSD-Middle is an exciting 5-week program that gives incoming 7th and 8th grade students the opportunity to become agents of change in their new schools by completing student-led projects that incorporate both research and action through a human design thinking model.
