Mr. Lundstrom honored by National Association for Gifted Children

Mr. Lundstrom was been named a 2015-16 Javits-Frasier scholar by the National Association for Gifted Children.

Only 12 teachers nationally were recognized and Lundstrom was the only California educator to be named a Javits-Frasier scholar.

The Javits-Frasier Teacher Scholarship Fund for Diverse Talent Development recognizes passionate, innovative educators who work in districts that serve students from low-income and minority populations that are historically underrepresented in gifted education.

“NAGC is committed to developing leaders like Robert who effectively advocate for those students who are often overlooked,” said M. René Islas, executive director.

The Javits-Frasier program provides professional development opportunities that help teachers properly identify and serve gifted students. As part of the scholarship, Lundstrom received an all-expenses-paid trip last month to the NAGC 62 Annual Convention in Phoenix.

“When I learned I was selected, I was ecstatic,” said Lundstrom.
